About the job
In this position, you will be responsible for the design and final electronic layout of a generally complex Electronic Circuit Board (PCBA).
You will translate the provided architecture into an electronic schematic, including the Bill of Materials (BOM) and all necessary documentation. Board layout is handled by layout specialists and is not part of your role. You will need to validate and release the final design through simulations and testing. An extensive lab with the necessary measuring equipment is available for this purpose.
The Hardware Engineering department, with approximately 35 FTEs, is part of Thales SIX houses.
The primary task of this department is to develop new products for both the mechanical and electronic components. Production preparation is also a task of Hardware Engineering. Within HW Engineering, new products are developed in multidisciplinary development teams of approximately eight people. As a Senior Electronic Engineer, you will be part of such a development team, acting as the lead engineer.
What you’ll bring
You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) or higher.
At least 5+ years of experience in a similar role, where you have already completed several complete PCBA design processes.
You have experience designing PCBAs with high-speed signals and interfaces.
You have experience supervising layout activities. Demonstrable experience with Signal Integrity simulation and implementation
Board-level experience (constraint manager for board design)
External interfaces (connector transitions & S-parameter assemblies)
Experience with designed-for-EMC
Prerequisites
Experience with Cadance
Experience with version control tools (GIT)
Knowledge and experience with intercom systems and/or complex network solutions (i.e., server/client solutions)
Experience with platform standards COMe Type 6/7 & SMARC 2.0
Knowledge of the following interface types and associated standards: 10Gb ETH
Video interfaces: DVI / HDMI / DisplayPort
USB 2.0, 3.0 PCIe & M2 Ethernet including Power over Ethernet (POE)
Knowledge and experience in developing military applications and developing according to military standards such as MIL-STD-810G & MIL-STD-461. Thermal design, optimizing processor platform heat management
