Say HI* to our Service Engineering Manager role

Active in the Aerospace, Defense, and Security sectors, Thales Nederland, with approximately 2,800 employees, is a leading provider of high-tech jobs. Product innovation and a rapid response to the latest technological developments are our driving forces.

High-profile examples include radar, communication, and command & control systems for naval vessels, and communication, security, and payment systems for businesses. Thales Nederland is part of the Thales Group, which employs 80,000 people internationally in 68 countries. This makes Thales one of Europe's largest electronics companies.

We are looking for a Service Engineering Manager for our Huizen branch.

About the job

The Services & Delivery Management department is responsible for, among other things:

  • Developing, rolling out, and managing innovative or modified Service & Delivery concepts and contracts

  • Executing remote and on-site service contracts

  • Providing aftercare for already delivered products and services

  • Maintaining and managing the associated customer contacts during operational implementation

As a Service Engineering Manager,

You will be broadly responsible for the design, setup, and rollout of new and modified services for existing and new customers. This includes the following activities:

You will define the service requirements for the needs of both the customer and the Thales organization and coordinate these with the Engineering Delivery Manager to jointly establish a project baseline.

You will define the associated new or modified service processes and KPIs, and determine their impact on the existing organization.

You will collect cost estimates for setting up and implementing the services and contribute to the preparation of customer quotes.

You will be in charge of setting up and implementing new processes and instructions for services and the associated tools.

In addition, you will work with the operational management organization to keep the service processes and instructions in our quality management system up-to-date.

You will identify potential improvements in the services and associated processes and instructions and implement them together with key stakeholders.

You will collaborate with all disciplines within management and the development department (engineers) to continuously increase the maturity of our service organization.

You will be part of a results-oriented team working with other internal disciplines to maximize and optimize our customer experience. Do you work independently and have a high degree of self-management?

You will perform these activities as a contributor or responsible work package manager during the tender phase of a new opportunity and also during the project phase after the customer signs off until the handover to the Service Delivery Manager.

As a Service Engineering Manager, you are primarily responsible for converting new service needs or changes into requirements and a baseline for implementation, including the impact on the existing organization. During the bid phase, you will work in a multidisciplinary team led by a capture lead to develop a proposal for the customer. You will collaborate with an Engineering Delivery Manager who focuses more on the technical requirements, while you will contribute the service processes, necessary tools, and organization. During the bid phase, you will also ensure that the costs are estimated, partly developing this yourself with input from and in consultation with the existing service organization. You will also provide the text and necessary structure for the proposal to the customer and record everything in a service file.

After the customer approves the quote, you will be part of the project team to develop and roll out the relevant service processes and related components to the existing organization. The end result is a successful handover of the new services or service changes to the existing service organization.

Apart from the bid or project, there are internal improvements to service processes, tools, and organization. Internally coordinating, developing, and rolling out these improvements are also part of your responsibilities as a Service Engineering Manager.

Your regular location is Huizen, but depending on the stakeholders you interact with, you may also be based at other Thales locations as well as customer sites.
