In a world that is becoming faster, more unpredictable, and full of opportunities, they come to us with great ambitions: to make your life better and safer. Our employees, who represent a uniquely diverse mix of expertise, talents, and cultures, develop and deliver extraordinary high-tech solutions. Out of 80,000 talents in 68 countries, 2,000 work in the Netherlands. We are one of the largest high-tech employers in the field of safety and security.

We help our customers think smarter and act faster in the areas of transportation, defense, space, aerospace, and cyberspace, in order to manage increasing complexity and every decisive moment along the way. We play a leading role in the digital transformation, focusing on artificial intelligence, big data & data analytics, connectivity, mobility, the Internet of Things, and cybersecurity.

In the Netherlands, we have locations in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven, and Hengelo (headquarters). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers, and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cybersecurity solutions, transport systems, communication equipment for ground forces, cryogenic cooling solutions, research & development in radar technology (in collaboration with TU Delft), and research & development in serious gaming (in collaboration with the University of Twente).

Within the Naval Engineering cluster, the Applications department is responsible for the development of Combat & Information Management Systems for naval vessels and their integration with sensor and weapon systems.

These complex systems feature advanced solutions in the areas of information processing, information management, user interaction, and sensor and weapon control. Our software provides essential support for missions ranging from anti-piracy to defense against long-range missiles.

Team Product Owner – CMS Infrastructure

About the Job

As a Product Owner, you work with a multidisciplinary team responsible for the design, development, and validation of Command & Control system applications. You act as the link between the (internal) customer and their requirements, the product roadmap, the product system architecture, and the Agile/Scrum software development team. As such, you manage the Product Backlog for the Command & Control system infrastructure and "guide" the relevant Agile/Scrum team(s). Your activities include discussing operational requirements with the (internal) customer, designing and formally describing the functional operation of the product or component, and presenting the final solution.

What you’ll bring

Do you have a passion for technology and an interest in working on high-tech Naval Command & Control systems? Then you might be the person we're looking for. You describe yourself as driven, result-oriented, and proactive, and you are highly focused on achieving results through effective collaboration.

  • You have completed a bachelor's (HBO) or master's (WO) degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, preferably with several years of experience in a System Engineering role.

  • You have knowledge of and experience with Scrum and Agile principles. You also have an affinity with project management.

  • You have strong communication skills and experience in leading, facilitating, motivating, and coaching multidisciplinary Agile/Scrum teams.

  • You are capable of creating strong working relationships with various stakeholders such as the Project and Product Manager.

  • You are able to translate and describe operational product requirements into a functional design for a product or component.

  • Proficiency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken, is essential for fulfilling this role effectively.

What you’ll gain:

Wherever your passion lies, Thales can help you make the best use of your skills and creativity. As a contractor at Thales, you can expect to experience:

  • An interesting job within a team of experts in an international high-tech environment.

  • Room for and attention to personal development and personal initiative.
