With a team of about 150 colleagues divided among 15—mostly product-related—Agile/DevOps squads, we provide IS/IT support to our 2,500 Dutch colleagues working in different Business Lines and functions. The IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands works closely with the international IS/IT departments of the Thales Group. At IS/IT, we have adopted an agile organizational model similar to the Spotify model, using Tribes, Chapters, and Squads.

IT Engineering Support is part of the IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands. The IT Engineering Support Chapter consists of 30 enthusiastic IT engineers and consultants, divided into three self-managing squads that work closely together. The Chapter includes system, software, and IT architects, application specialists, and infrastructure specialists. We gather requirements, validate them according to security protocols, and design solutions that we implement together with end users, as well as with other IS/IT squads. We maintain our own products and projects and are involved in the latest IS/IT developments within the Thales Group.

About the Job

As an engineer, you will work with the squad to deploy, maintain, and optimize the new tooling for Thales Software Engineers. The team works primarily with Linux and container-based technologies, focusing on process automation. This is done in collaboration with other squads to achieve progress together.

Within these activities, you will be responsible for:

- Managing applications on Linux and (Tanzu) Kubernetes 

- Automating existing and future processes with Ansible and FluxCD 

- Creating and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines used by the team 

- Monitoring deployed applications and proactively resolving issues 

- Managing the internal Kubernetes clusters used by the team 

- Deploying and maintaining tools in close cooperation with Engineering Support teams in other Thales countries 

- Actively introducing new technologies for the benefit of the team 

About You

 Must haves:

- A technical (IT/Engineering) educational background 

- A customer-oriented attitude and good communication skills 

- Strong problem-solving ability and perseverance 

- Excellent command of English and Dutch, both written and spoken 

- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role/position where the focus is on application support

- Extensive knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems 

- Knowledge of deploying and managing engineering applications on a Linux/Kubernetes platform 

- Experience with automation using Ansible 

- Experience with deploying and maintaining PostgreSQL databases 

- Experience with containers (Docker, Podman) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) 

- Experience with collecting metrics (Prometheus) and monitoring dashboards (Grafana)
