About the job


Within the software engineering department, and more specifically for the CMS (Combat Management System) IVVQ team, we are in search of exceptional talented: Software Test Automation Engineer/Architect

As a Software Test Automation Engineer / Architect you will work within the CMS IVVQ team. This team is responsible to test and qualify the combat management systems.

However, this role will transcend the IVVQ team and you will apply your knowledge across the entire Software Engineering department.


As a Level 3/4 Java Software Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for putting Test Automation on the map within Software Engineering. Together with the team manager IVVQ you will define the test automation strategy. You will do the implementation thereof with a small test automation team to ensure the better quality and performance of the teams. You will work closely with the development teams and QA to implement testing strategies and ensure that automation solutions align with business needs.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and develop the test automation strategy.

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Java and test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber etc.).

  • Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test data for both functional and non-functional testing.

  • Integrate test automation into CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) pipelines.

  • Work with the development teams to identify areas for automation and prioritize test cases.

  • Perform regression, performance, and load testing for complex Java applications.

  • Debug and troubleshoot automation scripts and applications in various environments.

  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and effectiveness of automated test frameworks and tools.

  • Maintain documentation for test automation frameworks, processes, and results.



What you’ll bring

Do you have a passion for test automation, are you a team player, do you have a proactive attitude and great communication skills in fluent Dutch and English? Do you enjoy constantly developing your skills and work in an Agile environment? Then you are the person we are looking for.


  • You have Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • You have 5+ years of experience in Java-based test automation.

  • You jave strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and software development lifecycle.

  • Certification in test automation is a plus.

  • You have over 5 years of Linux experience. Red Hat certification is a plus.
