Join the Customer Documentation Team within the Supportability Engineering Department at Thales in Hengelo. You will play a crucial role in developing essential user documentation for high-tech Radar and Command & Control Systems, primarily used in the maritime domain.
Your role & Team:
The Supportability Engineering Department is a team of 60 domain experts responsible for Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) across Thales's Radar and Command & Control Systems. This department encompasses Logistics Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Customer Documentation, Customer Training, and Obsolescence Management.
As a Senior Technical Writer, you will join the Customer Documentation Team (a 15-person team) and be the primary author for technical documentation with a specific focus on electrical systems.
Core responsibilities:
As the Senior Technical Writer with an Electrical background, you will:
Create, write, and maintain clear, accurate, and consistent Operator, Maintenance, and System Manuals for our advanced maritime systems.
Proactively collect and research technical information, study engineering specifications, and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the organization.
Test and validate technical procedures directly on the actual systems to ensure accuracy and user-friendliness.
Take the lead on technical documentation projects, managing them successfully from initiation to final delivery.
Convert complex technical and electrical concepts into easily understandable information for a diverse range of end-users.
What you bring:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Electrical domain (or equivalent technical background) with minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Technical Writer/Author or a similar documentation-focused role.
Proven strong background and affinity with high-tech electrical systems and technology.
Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
Experience with S1000D (specifically V3.0 and V4.1 Data Modules). Knowledge of structured data documentation (XML) and experience with a Component Content Management System (CSDB/CMS). Knowledge or experience in the field of Simplified Technical English (STE).
