With approximately 200 employees, Thales SIX develops, produces, installs, and maintains both communication equipment and integrated communication systems from its location in Huizen.

About the job

In this position, you will be responsible for the design and final electronic development of a generally complex Electronic Circuit Board (PCBA).

You will translate the provided architecture into an electronic schematic, including the Bill of Materials (BOM) and all necessary documentation. The board layout is handled by layout specialists and is not part of your role. You will need to validate and approve the final design through simulations and testing. A fully equipped laboratory with the necessary measuring instruments is available for this purpose.

Thales SIX in Huizen includes the Hardware Engineering department, which consists of approximately 35 full-time employees.

The primary task of this department is the development of new products, both mechanical and electronic. Hardware Engineering is also responsible for production preparations. Within Hardware Engineering, new products are developed in multidisciplinary teams of about eight people. As a Senior Electronic Engineer, you will be part of such a development team, functioning as the lead engineer.

What you’ll bring

If you are a creative, open, flexible team player with great communication skills in fluent Dutch and English, then you might be the person we are looking for.

• You have a higher vocational education (HBO) degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) or higher.

• You have at least 5+ years of experience in a similar role, having completed several full PCBA design projects.

• You have experience in designing PCBAs with high-speed signals and interfaces.

• You have experience in guiding layout processes.

• You have demonstrated experience with Signal Integrity simulation and implementation, including:

  • Board-level constraint management for board design.

  • External interfaces (connector transitions & S-parameter compositions).

• You have experience with designing for EMC.

Ideally, you also have experience with:

• Cadence

• Version control tools (GIT)

• Intercom systems and/or complex network solutions (e.g., Server/Client solutions).

• Platform standards such as COMe Type 6/7 & SMARC 2.0.

• The following interface types & related standards:

  • 10Gb Ethernet

  • Video interfaces: DVI / HDMI / DisplayPort

  • USB 2.0, 3.0

  • PCIe & M.2

  • Ethernet including Power over Ethernet (PoE)

• Development of military applications and compliance with military standards, such as:

  • MIL-STD-810G & MIL-STD-461

  • Thermal design and optimizing processor platform heat dissipation.
