The Enterprise Information Management team of Thales in the Netherlands is looking for an experienced BI specialist to further professionalize information management. 

About the job

Thales in the Netherlands is committed to the objective of becoming a ‘data-driven company’, where facts and unambiguous information are leading in decision-making. As BI specialist, you will be responsible for gathering the requested business information and designing clear dashboards for our internal customer, the business user.

The most important activities of the role are:

• Development and design of dashboards in PowerBI to meet the information demands of the business user

• ETL activities to extract and format data for the dashboards which need to be developed

• Contribution to the improvement of our work processes 

A typical rundown of your tasks are:

• You align with the product owner and business analyst of the team, and you are in touch with the business user to sharpen the information specifications.

• Together with the solution architect and data manager, you investigate which data is required to build the dashboard. Together you determine how much time it will take to extract and validate the data.

• You are capable of executing ETL activities yourself.

• In the meantime, you start designing one component of the new dashboard in PowerBI. You are in close contact with the business user to agree upon the visual design.

• At the end of the sprint, which takes two weeks, you deliver the new component of the new dashboard.

• In the next sprint, you will extend your work with a new component. 

What you’ll bring: 

You will play an important role in the internal digital transformation journey of Thales in the Netherlands. This assignment will be a journey full of chances and possibilities.

We are looking for a flexible go-getter with strong communication skills. Someone who dares to challenge the status quo, who brings new energy to our team, and also:

• Holds a relevant Bachelor’s degree in IT or Business&IT

• Has several years of experience as a BI Specialist

• Has experience with Cognos

• Has knowledge of PowerBI

• Has experience with an ETL tool, preferably SSIS

• Has experience with cubes, preferably SSAS tabular

• Has C2 level Dutch and B2 level English language skills

It is also nice to have

• Knowledge and experience with Kimball dimensional data modeling

• Ability to align the business information request with the technical possibilities

• Knowledge of Mendix
