About the job

In this role, you are responsible for the design and final electronic development of generally complex Electronic Circuit Boards (PCBAs).

You will translate the provided architecture into an electronic schematic, including the Bill of Materials (BOM) and all required documentation. The board layout is handled by layout specialists and is not part of your role. The final design must be validated and approved through simulations and testing. A comprehensive lab with all necessary measurement equipment is available for this.

Part of Thales SIX in Huizen, the Hardware Engineering department consists of around 35 FTE.

The department's primary task is the development of new products, both mechanical and electronic. Production preparation also falls under the responsibilities of Hardware Engineering. New products are developed in multidisciplinary teams of around 8 people. As a Senior Electronic Engineer, you will be part of such a development team, where you will serve as the lead engineer.




What you’ll bring
  • You hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) or higher.

  • You have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role, having gone through multiple complete PCBA design cycles.

  • You have experience designing PCBAs with high-speed signals and interfaces.

  • You can supervise layout work.

  • Proven experience with Signal Integrity simulation and implementation:

    • On board level (constraint management for board design)

    • External interfaces (connector transitions & S-parameter modeling)

  • Experience with designing for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cadence.

  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git).

  • Knowledge and experience with intercom systems and/or complex network solutions (e.g., Server/Client architectures).

  • Familiarity with platform standards such as COMe Type 6/7 & SMARC 2.0.

  • Knowledge of the following interface types and related standards:

    • 10Gb Ethernet

    • Video interfaces: DVI / HDMI / DisplayPort

    • USB 2.0, 3.0

    • PCIe & M.2

    • Ethernet including Power over Ethernet (PoE)

  • Knowledge and experience in the development of military applications and working with military standards such as MIL-STD-810G & MIL-STD-461.

  • Experience with thermal design and optimizing heat management in processor platforms.
