Say HI* to our Naval Software Engineer role

FüWES (Führungs- und WaffenEinsatzSystem) is the command system consisting of TACTICOS with an integrated, newly developed Fire Control solution. The development and integration of all subsystems onboard the ship, is what FüWES is all about. It accounts for the complete development cycle of products and solutions: from concept definition to system design, continuing to system integration and validation, up until the inclusion of delivery onboard the customer vessels. With the complete solution, we enable this new generation of frigates for the German Navy to have the necessary information to Defense Operators in time and to make the right decision within seconds.

To help us build and expand this system, we are looking for a SENIOR NAVAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER C++ to take part in one of our development teams, which are multidisciplinary and self-organizing Agile/Scrum team. In addition to software development, our teams are fully responsible for various aspects, such as requirements analysis, architecture, design, testing, validation and product demonstrations. The use of high-tech techniques and software development methods is important. The software of the Fire Control System is based both on Java and C++ and is supported by a modern development environment. Especially the area of the Gun Fire Control domain is based on the C++ technology stack.

As a senior software engineer you are working with the other engineers on your agile team and the other agile teams in the same sub-domain. You work on designs and architecture with our software and system architects, and take into account security and safety aspects in your code and that of your team. Since we are working with classified information, we require all employees to undergo a screening by the AIVD or MIVD (level B).

You will work (among others) with the following tools and techniques:

  • Agile/Scrum software development

  • C++, CMake, real-time software development

  • Continuous Integration & Delivery

  • Jenkins, Nexus, Maven, GitLab

  • Unit Testing (Google-Test), Test Automation, Cucumber

  • MatLab, SimuLink (is a plus, not necessary)
