Say HI* to our Manufacturing Engineer role

The THALES facility in Huizen, where approximately 300 colleagues work, offers a wide range of engineering solutions to support the Royal Netherlands Army with their communication and situational awareness needs. One of the most important subsystems is SOTAS, which provides audio communication and the IT infrastructure within military vehicles. In addition to standard products, we also develop customer-focused, customized solutions.

For the SOTAS Hardware Engineering Team, Thales (Huizen) is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer.

About the team: The Hardware Engineering team (35 FTE) translates customer requirements into robust technical solutions qualified according to military standards. To make the products optimally suitable for production, manufacturing engineers work closely with the hardware development team. The focus is on the development and release of electronic PCBAs and mechanical parts (such as housings). We outsource the production of these components to our partners.

The SOTAS product is assembled and functionally tested at our in-house facility.

About the job

You ensure that products are optimally designed at the lowest cost and with the highest quality. To guarantee that we deliver quality products to our customers, you ensure that both internal and external production know exactly how the product should be produced and tested. To this end, you compile data packages and work instructions and proactively communicate with partners and internal production.

  • You select components and tools that minimize the risk of delivery problems.

  • You specify and prepare technical documentation for new production processes and implement the new tools, including adjusting work instructions.

  • You contribute to the test setups, ensuring they fit optimally into the production process.

  • You support the factory by analyzing problems with materials or assembly.

  • You see opportunities in production processes to implement improvements based on Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for a new colleague who:

  • Has experience in the manufacturing and electronics industry as a Manufacturing Engineer.

  • Has knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or is eager to learn.

  • Is a creative and analytical thinker who always seeks smart solutions.

  • Has a higher professional education (HBO) degree or equivalent through experience.

  • Has good communication skills and can work independently.

  • Has excellent written and spoken communication skills in Dutch and English.
